The Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA)’s upcoming Adjuvants, Inerts, and Crop Protection Conference will take place in Louisville, KY, during Derby Week, May 1 – 3, 2023. CPDA President Terry Kippley shares insight into the event.
Last year, CPDA held its largest attendance ever, more than doubling previous years with more than 250 attendees from 110 companies. Active members reported that to make better business decisions when it comes to delivering to the grower what they need and when they need it, market intelligence is key. To that end, this year’s conference will have a variety of sessions with industry experts covering key aspects of the crop protection, adjuvant, and inerts business such as sourcing, global trade, and advocacy.
Today there are over 1,000 pesticide labels requiring an adjuvant and more than 2,500 adjuvants from which to choose. We know that choosing the right adjuvant can impact your performance of the product by up to 50%. This among today’s issues, such as sustainability, climate, smart technology and the introduction of greener biological formulations, and a more emerging drone application technology makes the topic of adjuvants even more important.
“Last year, our biggest highlight was our Distribution Executive Leadership Panel, which represented more than 60% of national distribution,” says Kippley. “This year, the same panel will be featured, but with a vertical view of our supply chain ecosystem and the perspective of a leading global inerts manufacturer, crop protection company, national distributor, and a major US retailer. In this panel, we will hear their view on what the future will look like over the next five to 10 years and how they’re going to need to change to meet that future.”

2022’s conference also saw the launch of CPDA’s Adjuvant University. This year’s session will be moderated by Nutrien’s Adjuvant Manager, Eileen Bernard Edward, and will be covering three fundamental areas. The first topic will be the present and future of adjuvants, conducted by Johnnie Roberts, Director of Education – Adjuvant Chemistry, and Joe Gednaiske, Director of Education – Adjuvant Development, both of CPDA.
After a break, Connor Ferguson, Branded Technologies Data Manager with Wilbur-Ellis, will present on optimizing spray mixture. This session will provide a hands on view of what the do’s and don’ts are. John Hemminghaus, Commercial Development Manager at Ethox Chemicals, will then moderate a session entitled, “The Future Trend of Application Technology.” Timothy Anderson with BASF, responsible for agro development, will lead a presentation covering biological formulations, entitled “Future Trends in Formulation Technology.”
CPDA looks forward to another successful year. Registration and additional details can be found at www.cpda.com.
